Monday Manicures

Hello everyone!!Today's post is going to be a little different, it is still nail related so it counts for my Monday Manicures.This post is going to alert you all of the "Toxic Trio" Which are three chemicals found in some nail polishes that you will want to be on the lookout for. These three are;
 Dibutyl phthalate (DBP),  Toluene, and Formaldehyde. They have been found to cause cancer and birth defects and other things which I listed below

Dibutyl phthalate (DBP) - Can lead to birth defects

Toluene- It affects the central nervous system and can cause headaches, dizziness and fatigue

Formaldehyde- Can increase the risk of cancer, and is also an irritant to the eyes, nose and throat, and can lead to skin irritation and an allergic rash called dermatitis

Now before you freak out and run and grab all of your nail polish and throw it away, promising never to go near nail polish again, let me reassure you that you do not need to do that. When I first heard about them I freaked out and was like "I'm never painting my nails again" Luckily I did some research and found out that it isn't as horrible as I imagined it to be. Thankfully as more women became aware of the toxic trio, a lot of nail polish companies started to reformulate their nail polishes without the Toxic Trio. All you need to do is be on the lookout of these chemicals and go through your nail polishes looking at the little sticker that tells you whats in the nail polish. A lot of nail polishes make it a lot easier for you by putting on the bottle something like "DBP Toluene and Formaldehyde FREE".

 If you want me too I can post a list of nail polishes that are safe and a list of polishes to avoid. I already went through all of my nail polishes and did research to find out which ones are safe, so I already did all the work and if you'd like I can post the list. Just remember not to freak out and that you don't need to stop painting your nails. As long as you know what to be on the lookout for you'll be fine!!

  2. Have you ever seen those commercials for medicine where they show you the product and tell you what they do and then at the end they read in a really fast voice like " This product can lead to nausea,headaches, vomiting, and in severe cases death." Who would be stupid enough to buy that!
